Making Dreams Come True
Our Dream Fund is enabling us to make a real difference to people’s lives in a very direct way. Through the generosity of our supporters, recent dreams have included adaptations to the home, sensory equipment and a much needed trip to the seaside.
Brandon Trust has supported Betty, who is 95 years old, for 20 years.
Betty was institutionalised from an early age when residential care was highly prescriptive and individual requests were unheard of.
The Dream Fund enabled Betty to enjoy a holiday to Blackpool and make a rare visit to see her family. Betty had a fantastic time and has wonderful memories of her trip which she loves to share through her photo album.
Jason is a young man with complex needs and autism. His parents are unwell and on low incomes. Following a professional assessment sensory equipment was funded to support Jason to express himself through activity as he is mainly non-verbal.
The equipment is helping to offset his high state of anxiety - keeping him active and providing textures and sensory exercises which he enjoys immensely. It includes sensory balls, a trampoline and gardening tools. The smaller equipment is used whilst he is being transported and the rest is used at his family home, which is also providing important respite for his family.
Names have been changed to protect identity.
