An apprenticeship at Brandon Trust is a great opportunity for young people and adult learners to gain a year of rewarding practical experience, well-respected professional qualifications and the skills to build a successful career, all whilst earning a wage.
What an apprentice at Brandon Trust does
You’ll spend around 12 months working with us to achieve your qualification. The time will be made up of on-the-job practical learning, skills training and a study element. The exact placement and responsibilities that you undertake may vary as we aim to take on apprentices where they’re most suited – this could be in a support role or a more office-based administration position.
Most of your placement will be spent in the workplace gaining hands-on experience and learning valuable new skills. As an apprentice, you’ll be treated with all the support and respect of a permanent employee. We’ll provide a full induction and you’ll benefit from our award-winning training, ongoing support and mentoring from experienced colleagues.
During your year of practical work experience, you’ll gain a number of nationally recognised qualifications through either one day a week at college and workshops, or onsite training. The apprenticeship framework consists of:
- A vocational qualification – Health and Social Care Diploma – to ensure that you have the necessary skills to do your role
- A qualification which will help you develop your knowledge and expertise in the sector e.g. a Diploma in Health and Social Care or Business Administration
- Functional Skills qualification to ensure good standards of Maths, English and ICT
- A component on employment rights and responsibilities so you understand your rights and what to expect from an employer
Mentoring and support
You’ll have an experienced member of the team as a mentor, who you can turn to with any queries or for advice. Your mentor will be responsible for your on-the-job development and guidance through the placement. You’ll also be fully supported, qualifications wise, by an external learning provider who will assess your progress and visit you regularly during the study programme.
Completion of the apprenticeship
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be fully qualified with a year’s experience under your belt and ready to apply for any vacant roles. Many of our previous apprentices have gone on to build successful careers with us, continuing to grow and develop.
