Children's Playlink joins Brandon Trust
Thursday 3 December 2015

Childrens Playlink LogoYate-based charity Children’s Playlink has transferred its services to Brandon Trust.

From 1 December, Brandon took on Playlink’s South Gloucestershire inclusion services, which includes holiday play and buddy schemes.

Families connected to Children’s Playlink have been informed of the merger and invited to a welcome drop-in event on 23 January, 2016, from 10am-4pm at Winterbourne Academy School, High Street, Winterbourne BS36 1JL. The event is an opportunity to meet all staff, and see what services families can access in the future, as well as providing an opportunity to feedback on current services and how they can be improved.

As part of Brandon Trust, Playlink will continue to deliver school holiday play schemes to 200 registered children, and support to the 30 children accessing the buddy scheme and 15 18-25-year-olds using the 'What’s Next' scheme.

Abseiling ActivityChildren’s Playlink Inclusion Coordinator Ash Lloyd said: "We’ve endured a difficult couple of years and it was decided by the trustees that the best option to ensure the future of the charity was to be taken on by Brandon Trust. Children’s Playlink has been a registered charity for 20 years and has provided many services to early years settings. In 2001, the charity was successful in a bid to provide holiday play schemes for disabled children, this service has since continued to grow and provides vital respite for parents and carers. The play schemes and other inclusion services we offer link in with Brandon Trust’s vision for children’s and young people's services. The aim is to improve and expand the current inclusion services Children’s Playlink offers families."

Brandon Trust Chief Executive Lucy Hurst-Brown said: "Brandon Trust wants to strengthen opportunities for children and young people, so we’re really excited to host the services provided by Playlink. They have been providing vital services to disabled children and their families for some time and it's a great chance to work together to improve the opportunities available to people in the area."
